GAELIC STORM / JESSIE BURNS FLOOD RELIEF FUND

Join Gaelic Storm in reaching out to one of our own and a community that needs help to rebuild after the devastating Colorado floods. On September 11th, our former fiddle player, Jessie Burns’ home-town of Lyons, CO was declared a Federal Disaster Zone when flash floods in the mountains forced two rivers to burst their banks following days of rain. Much of the town was washed away and the infrastructure of roads, bridges, running water, gas, sewerage and electricity disappeared overnight.  After three remarkable days of living stranded in the disaster zone, residents were able to evacuate but hundreds of households, including Jessie, Eric and their ten month old daughter Beatrice remain displaced until the town is repaired enough to be inhabitable. Gaelic Storm wants to help Jessie and her community repair their homes and rebuild their Community House, the ground floor of which was filled with 6 feet of contaminated water and after an epic and toxic clean up, is now just a concrete shell. Insurance won’t help, and the economic impact on everyone is growing steadily. So, we’re reaching out to see if the Gaelic Storm family can give Jessie and her community a helping hand to repair their homes and rebuild their community space for the whole town to use when they are all allowed home again.
